 data2date™ is an automatic calendar generator for QuarkXPress® and InDesign®. It is not an extension, but rather a simple combination of solutions. Included are FileMaker® Pro runtime databases (the source for custom date text and predefined holiday sets), a collection of calendar templates in a variety of calendar formats, a pre-written Xdata or InData prototype for each calendar, and a collection of QuarkXPress libraries containing mini calendars and other miscellaneous fillers.
Using the FileMaker Pro database, you can completely customize the text that appears within each date of the resulting calendar or just choose grouped, selected holidays. Using Xdata or InData you will import this text, applying style sheets on the fly. Modify the style sheets, colors, master pages, and drag and drop from libraries, to completely control and customize the look of the printed calendar.
The FileMaker Pro database is an OS X or Windows application. You can export the text for use with the QuarkXPress 4/5 application, but you cannot do so on an OS 9 machine. Simply copy the exported text to the Mac where you will use QuarkXPress 4/5.
The Components of data2date™
There are several parts to data2date. When you go to the registration page to request the download links, you must indicate QuarkXPress or InDesign, but you may download all versions, if you wish. The components are as follows:
• FileMaker® Pro Runtime Databases — add custom text to every date and choose from a list of holidays (US federal standard, Jewish, Islamic, Greek Orthodox, world, or moon cycles);
• User’s Guide — a PDF manual will guide you through each step of the creation process.
• QuarkXPress Templates — A collection of calendars that includes: 12 X 12 Monthly Wall Calendar, 4.5 X 5 Daily Desktop Calendar, and Weekly Personal Planners for use with QuarkXPress 4.X, 5.X, 6.X, and 7.X for Mac and Windows;
• QuarkXPress Libraries — more miscellaneous date-related objects, such as notable dates and mini calendars, are included in a number of libraries, just drag and drop to create front matter or use as fillers;
• Xdata Demo — import the date text that you've selected and apply style sheets on the fly, modify the style sheets for a truly custom calendar. With the demo version, you will need to import the months individually. With the full version of Xdata you can import all 12 months in a single pass.
